- In the morning on the way to the Ancient City we will visit the Erawan Museum, brought to you by the same family that has created the Ancient City, another of Thailand’s best kept secrets! It is easily seen from afar as it is a giant 43 meter tall statue of 3 giant elephant heads. It took 10 years to build. Inside the elephant is a 3 storey museum housing art, artifacts and treasures collected by the Viriyahbhun family. An extraordinary place to visit with surprises tucked in all corners of the inside of the statue.
- On the other side of the airport in Samut Prakarn province lies one of Thailand’s best kept secrets: the Ancient City (the park is also known as Muang Boran or Ancient Siam). Here is a spectacular and wonderful open-air museum recreating many of Thailand’s monuments in a 200-acre park roughly shaped like Thailand itself. It’s a truly beautiful setting, and you can explore it by tram, or by hiring a golf cart or bicycle. It gets a bit busier at weekends and on local holidays, so a weekday trip can be a good idea.
